Songs I'll Never Turn Off

Listening to the radio in the car the other day, I came up with a list of songs that I will never turn off if they come on the radio:

Paradise City/Sweet Child O' Mine - GnR

Dream On/Cryin'/Dude Looks Like A Lady - Aerosmith

Santa Monica - Everclear

Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis

You Shook Me All Night Long/Highway To Hell/Money Talks/Thunderstruck - AC/DC

Honky Tonk Woman - The Stones

FreeBird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Story Of My Life - Social Distortion

Wait - White Lion

Baby Got Back - Sir Mix A Lot

There are many many more songs, both by these artists and others that I would never turn off, but the problem is I would never hear most of them on the radio in the first place. Feel free to add others to the list...

That is a strong list you got there.

Areosmith - I more partial to Back in the Saddle

Everclear - That whole album I could listen to.

Oasis - you must really like them since Liam and Noel love the Reds. I am happy to see your team is finally turning a profit. I always thought they would be screwed having Thomas Cook as a sponser. Those guys always screw you on the exchange rate.

I agree anything on the Back in Black album (yes, I know Money Talks is on the Who Made Who album) stays on.

Honky Tonk Woman - Nice pick, the Unoffical Fight Song of the 1995 NCAA College Baseball National Champs.

FreeBird - I not a fan, but I can understand it is tough to resist the three guitar attack of the Skynard.

Social D - If you lived out here or in San Diego you would have little problem not hearing this on the radio. Oh I remember when they were just a an up and coming band from out here in the OC.

Sir Mix A Lot - You can never go wrong with that or My Posse on Broadway, My Hooptie, Swap Meet Louis and etc.

For me I would have to throw in:

Sabatoge - Beastie Boys - you see "I am like Buddy Rich when I fly off the handle"

Blue Sky Minning - Midnight Oil -Hell that whole album and the majority of Deisel and Dust

Rock Lobster - B-52's - Maybe one of the best new wave bass solos ever.

White Lines - Grand Master Flash ( I know it's a lot of rap, but this is still the good stuff)

The Magificent Seven, London Calling/Clampdown - The Clash - I still love these songs

Wild Flower - The Cult

Welcome to the Pleasure Dome/Two Tribes/Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

The Girl You Want/Freedom of Choice - Devo

Do It Again - The Kinks

Be Good Johnny/It's A Mistake - Men at Work

Falling Down A Mountian/Kick -INXS

Okay I know, I am trapped in 80's so sue me, but that is just a start.

Not to go on a rant but I so agree with you in that commerical radio sucks like Sunderland. And this is why I have a satellite radio and why everyone should as well.

So I will stop and wait for the scorn to come rolling in.

Liam and Noel HATE the Reds and are huge City fans (I won't lie, this is PART of the reason why BubbaRay Gracie and I like City).

I could listen to just about every song by Everclear (with the exception of Wonderful and Father of Mine and some of the stuff from Songs From An American Movie Vool. 1), but I'd almost never hear any of it on the radio, which was my main criteria. Same with Aerosmith, GnR, AC/DC, etc.

I always thought they were. Please forgive me for this major faux paus. I know feel as smart as Sven Goran Erikson.

No scorn, especially not for one of the few people who actually posts on here! And no worries on confusing which Manc team Oasis likes.

I still can't believe a Swede coaches England's national team.

I've noticed none of you communists mentioned THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER. Why do you hate America?

Dan,

Would I be make to amends if I threw in Merle Haggard's "Okie from Muskogee" and Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A". Two songs, I was forces to listen to during my senior year of football, by my insane coach?

-- "boski, I think I just fell in love with you."

Back off Aimee, boski is all mine.

-- Tobin is abolutely right. BMMAN's list is a definate step in the right direction, but it's absolute dearth of the Star Spangled Banner, and not the hippy Hendrix version, not to mention Toby Keith should leave any federal agent monitoring the Internet suspicious.

The very thought of turning either of those off should make one shutter!

-- I'm glad that boski tripped up a bit with his footy facts. I was concerned that I might be replaced as BMMAN's cousin.

-- I agree that every song here is awesome. I probably wouldn't turn off a single song by any of the bands mentioned, though I'm basically afraid of the radio for fear that I will start rocking out, and then have a commercial or DJ talking over songs that will ruin it all for me, so I won't make a list of my own. I'm aware that satellite radio goes a long way to curing this problem but at the moment my commute doesn't quite justify goes beyond my CD player or iPod.

I would like to add another.

Eighties by Killing Joke. Not so much for singing, but for turning up the volume near the blood coming out the ears level. That is one that will never get old, even though I am showing my age by loving it so.
