If A Tree Falls In The Forest...

Apparently, Winger released a greatest hits collection in 2001.

I think they were trying to top Dexy's Midnight Runners, for most pointless greatest hits album every.

I used to think having a Greatest Hits album was done on merit...how foolish. It now seems that the main requirement is having at least one album and at least one song not from that album (like a song on a movie soundtrack that was deemed not good enough for the other album).

Speaking of Winger, one of the most amusing articles I ever read was in Guitar World in 1996 or 97, and it was a "Where are they now" of metal guitar heros. Reb Beach from Winger (who could really smoke...he just had the bad judgement to associate himself with Kip Winger) was in there, and everyone was being asked about the highs and lows of their career, and Beach's low was when he turned on Beavis and Butthead, and saw Stewart wearing a Winger shirt. He said something along the lines of Nirvana killing most of the metal bands, but seeing Stewart in their shirt told him right then that Winger was done.

In retrospect, that article was a bit goofy....it didn't come out that much after metal wasn't trendy anymore, and most of the bands in question (Poison, L.A. Guns, Warrant, etc) have reformed and beeng touring a fair amount over the past 6 years or so. Surprisingly, those metal bands are still around and touring while very few of the 90s bands that follwed them are still around.
